Ysgol Maes Owen

Ysgol Maes Owen’s pupils dance, act and make music in partnership with Conwy Expressive Arts. Starting this September nearly 100 pupils will have the chance to work with arts professionals and enjoy learning new skills.
Jonny Gibbons leads street dance classes for groups in years 3&4, Vickie Fleming from Pigtown Theatre Company works with years 5&6 on drama project ‘Telling Tales’ and percussionist Sue Hughes brings drums, xylophones, woodblocks and tambourines for an after-school session.
Children will work for up to six weeks with each leader and then swap to another group to try something new.
Enjoyment, teamwork, challenge and success are key to this exciting new initiative. Headteacher Mrs C Foulkes believes the arts are a wonderful way to develop her pupils and lead to higher learner engagement in the classroom. We can only agree!
